Description

This little booklet is exactly what the title suggests: a guide to open content licenses. It starts of by giving a historical overview of the developments in copyright. How copyright has evolved from a system that kept the balance between the rights of the author and the public domain intact, to a system that (sometimes) severely hampers innovation and creativity and is depleting the public domain. Having outlined the current copyright problems, the book continues by explaining some of the open content licenses. It does a very good job at showing how these licenses maintain the rights of the author while at the same time allowing for the creative opportunities of the public domain. In essence it gives non-specialists the information they need to decide on which license is appropriate for their content.
