Spotlight on Intelligent Television: The Economics of Open Content

Intelligent Television is an ambitious research organization located in New York City with a focus on the changing business and distribution models for media in the digital age. Among their several projects is the noteworthy “Economics of Open Content”, whose results will be presented in
an upcoming two-day symposium
(January 23-24) in collaboration with MIT Open Courseware and the support of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

From the website:

Economics of Open Content is “a systematic study of why and how it makes sense for commercial companies and noncommercial institutions active in culture, education, and media to make certain materials widely available for free—and also how free services are morphing into commercial companies while retaining their peer-to-peer quality.”

Other projects by Intelligent Television sound equally promising and more information about them can be found here.
