Participatory Culture Foundation launches Democracy Player and Open Video Platform

GetDemocracy LogoIn a previous post, OpenBusiness reported on efforts by the Participatory Culture Foundation to create an open and simple distribution platform for video and independent television over the Internet. Much of their vision has reached a first milestone today with the 1.0 release of their Windows video player and browser Democracy (getdemocracy.com). The corresponding “Broadcast Machine” also launched today and allows producers to easily publish using BitTorrent, RSS and other distribution mechanisms. In addition, the group recently launched VideoBomb.com as a destination website for users to share and discover video content.
