Westminster eForum Keynote Seminar: IPR and DRM
On 14 March, OpenBusiness addressed delegates attending the second Westminster eForum on Intellectual Property Rights and Digital Rights Management. The aim of the forum was to provide a platform for the latest thinking on IPR and DRM and offer stakeholders a timely meeting point for different perspectives.
Christian Ahlert spoke about Creative Commons and the new business models discussed here, on the OpenBusiness site.
The Forum discussed the characteristics of an IPR and DRM landscape – commercially and politically, and with a view to the international realities – that will most benefit the UK’s creative economy. The sessions included a discussion of the new business models which are emerging and the implications across a range of content sectors together with an exploration of the latest approaches to DRM and the implications for the global market. The view of this discussion was to serve policy makers in Parliament and Government by adding to their understanding of IP and DRM providing valuable context for decision-making.
A key output of the seminar will be a comprehensive printed record of the proceedings – published as a high-quality bound briefing document for Ministers and officials at DCMS, DTI, and other departments affected by the issues, Parliamentarians with a special interest in these areas, other agencies and the European Commission. It will also be made available more widely.
Seminar supported by Arts Council England
