Pearl Jam Moves Open Business

Jam.jpegPearl Jam just released a new song and video under a Creative Commons license. The video is available at Google Video. What seems odd is that they say they will only have it available there until the 1st of June. But its still a cool idea and it helps Pearl Jam to spread the word and garner attention for their new albulm. Opening up , using new distribution channels such as Google video and to go viral with a Creative Commons license seems to be a smart move.

Honestly, it is quite a stretch to call that license Open or Free.

Seems some think I am out to corner the market for novels.

It does rather- I bet they feel really generous for letting you send it to your friends.
… and what happens on the 1st of June?… once some item has been licenced under CC isn’t it impossible to lift the licnence off?!
What happens after I send it on the 2nd of June to one of my friends?

As per the terms of the license, you are good to go. Just don’t expect to get a copy from the same place (them / google) after the date in question.

Mind you, if they end up not liking this, be very careful to meet the terms of the license.

    all the best,
