British Council advocates Creative Commons debate

Ubounded FreedomUnbounded Freedom – a guide to Creative Commons thinking for cultural organisations is the first book to be published by the British Council under a Creative Commons licence. Written by Rosemary Bechler, it has been published in the belief that cultural organisations and the creative industries need to carefully consider the balance between intellectual property rights and the public interest. OpenBusiness.cc gave lots of inout to the writing of the booklet and will participate in a discussion (online) and offline at the London Book fair about copyright reform. The author Rosemary Bechler says it has written the book for the British Council, because she believes “by continuing down the same track and not reacting to new thinking in copyright law, we threaten the global chain of creativity and innovation on which we and future generations depend.” The book is available to download from www.counterpoint-online.org
