The Friday Project
This outfit’s mission is to combine “everything that’s great about traditional book publishing with the limitless possibilities offered by the Internet and emerging technologies.” In practice this means “building the first mainstream publishing company that has the Internet – and related technologies – at the heart of everything it does.” They have 3 separate arms; one for paper product, one for digital output, and another for audio. The firm is led by a team with heaps of experience from the analogue / traditional / old-media publishing industry; no doubt their commercial skills will enable great success in their new venture. And from this press quote, they’ve evidently made a solid start …
“Unquestionably hip and metropolitan… overnight, the company has transformed itself from an interesting start-up to a serious player and one that understands the rules of the game.” – The Observer
If you have a blog that and would like to see it printed up, then keep these guys in mind, especially as they’ve just launched a Creative Commons version of one of their texts.
