Sellaband – music revolution
This is a new site, started by ex Sony Music execs, to enable a better deal for artists and listeners.
- artists upload songs.
- listeners listen, and invest $10 per part (of 5000 parts available).
- once $50,000 is raised, artist records a top album, with a top producer, in a top studio (love those Sony contacts).
- album gets sold worldwide, and some tracks are available as free downloads.
- artist gets 50% of album profits, investors share other 50%.
- artist, investors and Sellaband.com get 1/3 each of the ad revenue from the artists download portal.
- investors also get a limited edition cd for every part they purchased in the artists music. May be collectors items one day.
I’m an artist on this site (4th in the world atm, out of over 2500 artists), and I think it is a musical revolution. It’s very new, but already 4 artists have made the target and are in the recording studio. There will be copycats in the future, but Sellaband is unique right now, and has had alot of favourable press all over the world.
