CrowdSpirit is a platform connecting companies with innovators to help with the design of products and services. The innovators respond to challenges set forth by the companies. They can then be invited by the business to join the project and upon the project’s completion, the innovators are the first to use the innovative new product/service and may receive some other rewards as well.

What does 'openness' mean in this case?

Openness in this case is all about using your customers for input while developing new product/services. CrowdSpirit is a platform/facilitator that enables this process to happen. It’s crowdsourcing they use to find their consumers and it’s co-creation they apply for developing products/services together. The CrowdSpririt platform does not yet offer private individuals the possibility of submitting a challenge. As soon as the community is large enough, CrowdSpirit will look into offering this service.
