Founded in January 2007, OW2 is an independent industry community dedicated to developing open source code infrastructure (middleware and generic applications) and to fostering a vibrant community and business ecosystem.
What does 'openness' mean in this case?
Non-profit open source organization with transparent governance and decision process. Operates along five basic principles: Openness, Fairness, Trust, Transparency and Independence. The OW2 Consortium hosts some one hundred open source projects, including Acceleo, ASM, Bonita, eXo Platorm, Funambol, JOnAS, Lomboz, Orbeon Forms, PetALS, SpagoBI and XWiki. One of he best kept secret in the industry, OW2 has local chapters in Europe, China and Brazil. The North America Chapter will be launched in 2010 further to Open Solutions Alliance (OSA) members decision to join OW2.
