This is a project to build an Open Source, Flexible Manufacturing System. The objective is to provide a modular framework for open manufacturing. The means to that end are: standard aluminium extrusion frames at sizes in increments of 1 “metric foot” (30cm) with the following 5 solutions built into each frame: 1) Structure -to mount a process into. 2) Power bus -for connection to power. 3) EtherCAT Data bus -for communication to and from the on board controller. 4) Pallet Mover -to transport workpieces between cubes 5) control/management software -an interface to controlling each cube’s functions and interactions between cubes. One long term goal is to eventually reach 100% replication within the system.

All system plans, software and componentdesigns will be freely downloadable as they become available. contributions from users to improve existing designs or submit new ones will be encouraged.
