Service/product description
Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative ideas and ambitious endeavors.
We believe that…
• A good idea, communicated well, can spread fast and wide.
• A large group of people can be a tremendous source of money and encouragement.
Kickstarter is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.
Kickstarter is focused on creative ideas and ambitious endeavors. We’re a great way for artists, filmmakers, musicians, designers, writers, athletes, adventurers, illustrators, explorers, curators, promoters, performers, and others to bring their projects, events, and dreams to life.
What does 'openness' mean in this case?
As a funding platform, projects describe what their goal is, the amount they need to reach that goal, and the tangible products and rewards contributors will receive at various donation levels. Everything is out in the open.

Some funding sites have run into regulatory hurdles. In the case of KickStarter, are the investors “qualified”? I think the idea of a funding site is great. I just don’t know any entrepreneurs who have used one successfully.
