Guidelines

The following are guidelines for how The Open 100 will be run:

• Anybody can nominate one or more companies.

• Every nomination will be considered (to avoid spam the we have decided to check the nominations daily before publishing them online).

• Nominated companies should exhibit one or more of the following characteristics:
- innovate products or services through communities
- share information freely using alternative ‘open copyright models’
- give substantial parts of a product or service away for free
- operate organizationally like open source software production, but translate the model to services
- lowering the costs of market entry by providing tools or services, that open up traditional business boundaries

• Companies may be nominated for multiple award categories, and companies may win multiple awards.

• The 20 best nominations per category will make the final open 100. The judges will decide on a winner per category.

• The judging board reserves the right to discard any submissions that it reasonably determines to be fraudulent or submitted by bots.
